Can you believe it’s been three years since Scott Weiland died?

Scott Weiland was found dead three years ago today, December 3rd 2015 in Bloomington, Minnesota. Looking back, his death marked the beginning of a long string of musician deaths that stretched through 2016,

The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer gave his last performance two nights before that fateful day at Toronto’s Adelaide Hall (now called RADIO), ending his 16-song set with “Unglued” off of Purple. Here’s another bit of trivia for you all: those are my questions being asked in the video of his last-ever interview for music blog LiveinLimbo.com which was featured on Billboard magazine, Rolling Stone, and on and on and on…

The story of how I was jerked around at the time waiting for confirmation, only to give up and head home albeit not before sending off my “10 Questions” for him isn’t what’s important. Yes he had his share of demons, but Weiland was a supreme talent that rock music is poorer for because of his absence. Maybe all this time later I’ll finally be able to make it through watching all 5+ minutes of his answers; it’s been too eerily painful up until now…

Gilles LeBlanc

Gilles LeBlanc literally fell into “alternative rock” wayyy back at Lollapalooza 1992, where he got caught in his first mosh pit watching some band named Pearl Jam. Since then, he’s spent the better part of his life looking for music to match the liberating rush he felt that day, with a particular chest-beating emphasis on stuff coming out of his native Canada. It took him awhile, but Gilles now writes feverishly about all things that rock (and or roll) through his ROCKthusiast alter ego.

  • Nope, can’t believe it tbh. I was and always will be a huge fan and I feel a pang of sadness every time I hear an old STP song – or a new one, for that matter.

  • He deserved a better last interview than that. The questions and especially the interviewer, stunk!!
