Flaming Lips Break Record for Most Shows in a 24 Hour Period

Well, they did it. Eight gigs in eight separate places in 24 hours.  They started in Memphis on Wednesday and finished up in New Orleans last night.  Jay-Z, holder of the previous record of seven, is probably rather pissed.

The Lips are now officially in the Guinness Book of World Records.  Said Wayne Coyne:

“To be published alongside the man who ate 22lbs (10kgs) of his own boogers, beside the woman with the longest toenails or perhaps even to be published beside an individual who has had maybe 1,000 cockroaches stuffed into their ears… that, to me, would be one of life’s absurd joys.”
