The king of rhumba’s Congolese beat not only entranced Africa but also infiltrated Europe. He was performing in Ivory Coast on Saturday when he collapsed onstage, dead of an apparent heart attack at the age of 66. Naturally, there’s video.

Billy Paul

The Philly soul singer, best known for his 1972 hit, “Me and Mrs. Jones,” died of cancer on Sunday at the age of 81.
