This New List of Highest-Paid Artists Shows How Important Touring Is Today

Billboard has this new list of the highest-paid musicians, breaking down their earnings by sales, publishing, streaming and touring. Of those four categories, the vast majority of the cash comes from playing live. Here are some examples. Pay special attention to the money made from both music sales and streaming vs touring. (All figures in USD.)

Beyonce: $62.1 million

  • $1.3 million from publishing
  • $1.4 million from streaming
  • $4.2 million in sales
  • $54.7 million touring

Guns ‘N Roses: $42.3 million

  • $499,600 in publishing
  • $670,800 in streaming
  • $771,700 in sales
  • $40.4 million touring.

Bruce Springsteen

  • Streaming: $167,500
  • Publishing: $412,200
  • Sales: $804,900
  • Touring: $40.9 million
