The Smashing Pumpkins Played LA and James Iha Walked Onstage

There have been many iterations of the Smashing Pumpkins over the decades as Billy Corgan follows his whims about what the band should be. Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has been welcomed back into the fold several times, including on the current tour. But no one expects there to ever be a reunion of the classic lineup, but who knows who might show up on any given night?

Case in point: Saturday night (March 26) a The Theatre at the Ace Hotel in LA, long-estranged (since 2000?) guitarist James Iha walked onstage. To say the crowd was gobsmacked would be an understatement.

So that’s 75% of the classic lineup that have joined Billy at some point. Does anyone have D’Arcy’s phone number?
