The 50 Most-Anticipated New Albums of 2013

Stereogum has gone through the new release schedule for next year and ranked the albums it believes we want to hear the most.  I’ll give you the Top 10 with my comments.  You can find the rest here.

1.  My Bloody Valentine/TBA

According to the band, they finished mastering their 21-plus-years-in-the-making album on Friday. This had better be good.

2. Arcade Fire/TBA

They’ve been carefully roadtesting material over the last few months.  How the hell can they live up to the glory they received for The Suburbs?  We’ll see.

3.  Earl Sweatshirt/Doris

Earl is a member of the LA hip hop collective Odd Future.  He’s not as volatile as bandmate Tyler, The Creator.

4.  Vampire Weekend/TBA

I’ve never really gotten Vampire Weekend, but they remain a hipster favourite.  January 11 will mark two years since the release of Contra, so they’re due.

5.  Phoenix/TBA

The most successful band to come out of France in some time.  Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix came out in 2009.  A new record is predicted for April.
