Want to Buy John Lennon’s First Car?

John didn’t pass his driver’s test until he was 25 but when he did, he was determined to tootle around London in style.

Admittedly, he didn’t have to look very hard for that first set of wheels. When news got out that he had his driver’s licenses, all sorts of dealers parked outside his out, begging for him to test drive their cars.

In the end, Lennon chose a 1965 Ferrari 330GT 2+2 Coupe for which he forked out the princely sum of £6,500.  Taking inflation and exchange into account, that was the equivalent to about $170,000 today.

The car is now being sold at auction.  Estimates are that it could go for as much as $340,000.  Somehow, I expect the final price will be much higher.  More details (and how to buy!) at AutoBlog.
