A famous Neil Peart motorcycle is going up for auction

When Rush went on tour for the band’s 30th anniversary–the R40 tour–the band and crew made accommodations for Neil Peart to bring along his motorcycle. Where possible, instead of a tour bus or plane, he rode his 2004 BMW R1200GS from show to show. He needed time alone to process the recent deaths of his daughter and wife who passed within 10 months of each other. That 55,000-mile road trip is documented in his 2002 memoir, Ghost Rider: Travels On The Healing Road.

That BMW is now going for auction. It will come with the original purchase receipt, a worn canvas tank bag, and a pair of used drumsticks. It’s expected to sell for between US$40,000 and US$50,000.
