Canada’s new $2 coin from the Royal Canadian Mint will look familiar to guitarists

The Royal Canadian Mint can get playful from time to time, especially when it comes to satisfying the wants of coin collectors. The Mint’s latest offering is a $2 coin shaped like a Fender Jazzmaster, a beloved model that first appeared in the late 1950s.

Yes, this is a coin. Not a Canadian one, but a 1 oz. silver coin struck for the Solomon Island.

And it’s legal tender, although you won’t want to actually spend it because they each cost $149.95. Just 4,000 will be produced, so you’d better move. It starts shipping to Canada and the US on September 25.
