Did anyone even notice that MTV held the VMAs last night? Here are a few winners.

Yes, MTV still insists on hosting a video music awards event every September despite the fact the channel features nothing but reruns of Ridiculousness these days. But okay, let’s go through the charade.

The VMAs were held last night and to the surprise of no one, Taylor Swift set a record, nominated in 12 categories and winning in seven. She now has 29 lifetime wins, four more than Beyonce.

Post Malone came in second with 11 nominations and five wins. Eminem broke Peter Gabriel’s award for the most wins by a male solo artist (he now has 15).

In amongst all the pop and hip-hop, there were a couple of rock awards. Lenny Kravtiz somehow beat out Green Day, the Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, and Kings of Leon.

In the alternative category, the winner was Benson Boone, who won over Bleachers, Hozier, Imagine Dragons, Teddy Swims, and Linkin Park. That list shows you (a) just how dire the alt-rock scene is right now OR (b) how out of touch MTV is.

If you must, the entire list of nominees and winners can be found here.
