Drake had a bad Super Bowl halftime show–and he didn’t even appear
All the reviews I’ve seen about Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show aren’t terribly positive. (Here’s one example.) The audio seemed to be off and while the choreography and symbolism were interesting, many were unimpressed and bored. Others have a different opinion.
My take: If he really wanted to make a statement, he should have performed “Alight,” a song heard at Black Lives Matter protests. Another take: Trump left the game around halftime. Was he triggered by all this pro-Black symbolism? One can hope.
Everyone was waiting for Lamar’s anti-Drake diss song, “Not Like Us.” Would he perform it? And if so, would Lamar rap the pedophile accusations? Turns out he both held back (“Certified love boy, certified pedophile” was not uttered, but the crowd knew) and elevated the feud even further. Given the audience, this was pretty savage.
Drake has lost three million followers on Instagram since this feud started last spring. He’s already suing Universal Music (the label he shares with Lamar) over allowing this situation to escalate.
Here’s the setlist of the 13-minute performance.
