Former Contestant on The Voice SHOT AND KILLED After Gig

If you watch The Voice, you may remember a contestant named Christina Grimmie (a former girlfriend of Adam Levine, by the way.) She was in Orlando Friday night (June 9) performing with a band called Before You Exit at a venue called Plaza Live. At around 10:20 during meet’n’greet/autograph session with fans, she was approached by man.

He pulled out a gun and shot her at close range. People magazine has this eye-witness account.

Grimmie’s brother tackled the man and in the struggle, the suspect fatally shot himself. Grimmie was rushed to hospital where she died from her injuries late Friday night.

The shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg. He was found with two handguns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife. Right now police are treating this as a “deranged fan” incident. There’s been no talk of motive.

‘Murica. What a place.
