Here are the (almost) final numbers for the Canadian CDs vs. vinyl battle for 2024

Luminate offers up these Canadian sales figures as of December 26. That means except for five days (during a Boxing Week period, too), these are pretty much the final numbers for 2024.

  • Total CD sales in all of Canada this year: 1,801,433 (a drop of -12.2% from this point last year)
  • Total vinyl sales in all of Canada this year: 1.781,021 (up 26.6% from a year ago)
  • CD sales last week: 69,263 (down 0.5% from a week earlier)
  • Vinyl sales last week: 96,460 (down 9.5% from last week)

Streaming numbers:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,842,267,022 (down -2.4% from last week)
  • Songs streamed in Canada this year: 142,585,556,376 (up 9.5% from this point in 2024)
