Here’s our weekly look at Canadian CD and vinyl sales

For the first time since at least 1990, Canadians continue to buy more new vinyl than new CDs, although CDs got something of a bump last week. Luminate has the latest figures.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 31,086 (up 17.6% from last week)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada last week: 25,093 (up 10.5% from last week)
  • CDs sold so far this year: 144,598 (down 0.3% from this point in 2024)
  • Vinyl sold so far this year: 163,962 (up 8.1% from a year ago)

As for streaming…

  • Songs streamed last week: 2,794,173,133 (down 0.6% from last week)
  • Songs streamed so far this year: 13,830,475,422 (up 8.3% from a year ago)
