New Music from the Inbox: Braden Lam, HotWax, Willow Avalon, and more!
Artist: Braden Lam feat. Michaela Slinger
Song: Wide Open
Album: The Cloudmaker’s Cry
This charming duet with Vancouver’s Michaela Slinger is from Braden Lam’s debut full-length album, out April 11. If you want a smile, watch the music video, which features a truck wearing a ginormous cowboy hat! Braden says: “The idea for the music video came to me originally as a joke. I had just seen Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and was riffing on this funny concept in my head of a gigantic cowboy hat on top of a vintage pickup. I mentioned it to my friend Cameron Roberts, who is a talented carpenter, and he agreed to give it a go and built us the hat of my dreams!”

Artist: Greer
Song: Had Enough
Of thier new single, Greer share: “Originally inspired by The Eagles ‘Chug All Night,’ ‘Had Enough’ serves as a fun pop song about the different struggles pets go through when first meeting their owners. Fun fact about this song – after figuring out the bridge, we all simultaneously exclaimed, ‘PIZZA TIME!’ Although this coincidence is not yet explained to us, it’s something we oftentimes remember, forever symbolized as a signifying moment representing our newfound unity as a band.”

Their debut album, Rave Immortal, is out January 24th! 20-year-old Nyrobi explains that “‘Run Rabbit’ is about the consequence of causing complete havoc on a night out and having to make a run for it after upsetting the neighbours with our loud music. Again it follows the story of my disability, where, after being limited for so many years I just wanted to feel the adrenaline rush. It captures the feeling of the chase and how being close to danger is another way we get to feel alive”.
