Hop Bico is the first single from Turkish psych rock group Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek’s album, Yarın Yoksa, out March 14th. The lyrics are “about a playful character named Bico who is a symbol of vitality and spirit. Lyrics “Hop Bico, hopla Bico” (“Hop Bico, jump Bico”) is a call to action, urging him to lead the group in celebration while embracing life through dance and movement.”

Artist: Ski Team
Song: Me

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Lucie Lozinski (aka Ski Team) explains that this experimental downtempo indie pop track is “about the struggle of adjusting someone’s role in your life, or your own role to them, and giving up control in that process. I guess it’s about realizing if you have to assign roles, maybe it’s not as special as you think. And like challenging this idea of roles being the whole of someone’s identity. It’s scary to not know who’s on your roster, or who you are without a particular person/job/trait/whatever, and just go forth into life’s abyss as a human, but it’s often better for everyone involved to get on with it. Pick yourself up, focus on yourself, and let everything and everyone else kind of settle around you.” This song also features the lyric “I was shaking like a chihuahua,” which personally brings me joy.
