Ongoing History Daily: Adam Gonthier and Three Days Grace

In the early 90s, Three Days Grace stormed out of tiny Norvel, Ontario, to become extremely successful worldwide, selling millions of records. Their singer was Adam Gonthier. He was part of the group until 2013 when he decided to leave in order to focus on his mental and physical health. He was completely burned out from the treadmill of recording and touring.

Now that he’s back with the band as a co-frontman with Matt Walst, he admits that he was in a “really dark place” at the time—but that his departure had nothing to do with drugs or being addicted to anyone, although alcohol seems to have been a problem.

Adam is now seven years sober and having two children to look after has changed his life for the better.
