Revisit Mariah Carey’s Trainwreck New Year’s Eve Performance

First, the good news. The team that was entrusted to get Mariah Carey to her Times Square New Year’s Eve performance on time managed to pull it off. The bad new? Mariah’s New Year’s Eve performance. It was the trainwreck highlight of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. She managed to get through “Auld Lang Syne” with little drama, but then… Behold her forgetting the words, getting annoyed with her dancers and apparently giving the evil eye to a number of people. A lip sync failure, perhaps?

It was a shitshow, the perfect end to the shitty year that was 2016.

In the interests of equal time, Mariah had this to say. And her reps claim she was set up to fail. Meanwhile, there are suggestions that her performance was sabotaged for the sake of ratings.
