Shazam identifies songs. Can it identify the stars of 2025?

Shazam, the Apple-owned magical listening app that can identify songs, is a great source of music consumption data for labels, artists, and managers. Can data from Shazam users be translated into accurate predictions for which acts will be big in 2025?

Shazam has something called “Fast Forward 2025” which spotlights 50 artists it extrapolates to having a boom in 2025. Things are broken down into ten different genres that span dance; Latin; alternative, rock, country, pop, hip-hop, and R&B.

The reveal–which will annoyingly be dragged out over 5 days–began yesterday with looking at future dance stars. Also annoying is that come tomorrow (Wednesday, January 8), they’ll lump all rock and all country together.

Meanwhile, here are the dance artists Shazam says will be big this year.

  • Prophecy (Spanish DJ duo)
  • Khathapillar (DJ from South Africa)
  • ALSO ASTIR (EDM artist from North Macedonia)
  • Joe Hunt (British garage DJ)
  • Marasi (Greek DJ)
  • Nu-La (British singer-songwriter)
  • Quentro (Turkish DJ)
  • TR3NACRIA (Italian DJ trio)
  • VXSION (Brazilian house DJ)
  • WITH U (German dance DJ)
