Sum 41 now has their own street in Ajax, Ontario

When Sum 41 officially came together in Ajax, Ontario, 41 days into the summer of 1996, the lineup consisted of a bunch of snotty teenagers who were into punk, partying, and pranks. Who would have thought that almost 30 years later they’d have a local street named after them?

With the last-ever Sum shows this week before the band retires, the band has been honoured–albeit temporarily–by having the town’s Falby Court renamed Sum 41 Way. Why that street? Because that’s where the high school all the members attended is located. At the time, it too had a different name. Exeter High School is now called Bolton C. Falby Public School. Sum 41 Way will continue to exist until the band is inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Junos at the end of March.

The Sum guys weren’t there for the unveiling–they’re on the road, of course–but some family members showed up.
