The bizarre Eminem song theft crypto scheme

You may have heard that an employee of a recording studio was arrested for stealing some Eminem songs with a plan to sell them. Just another leak story, right? Well, no. The employee in question, one Joseph Strange, had an interesting motivation for the thefts.

Back in 2018, Strange got swept up in the crypto craze, trying his hand at mining Bitcoin. Over the next three years, he became a serious crypto bro who was trying to pull together as much digital currency as he could before it all collapsed.

But there’s more. Strange is a major Trump supporter, a follower of the misogynistic supremely anti-feminist MGTOW (“Men Going Their Own Way”) cult, and someone who had some, er, interesting views of male sexual health. One of the things he advocated for was “semen retention.”

Why bring this up? Because his employer at Slim Shady, Eminiem, is vehemently anti-Trump. Did Em’s political beliefs play into the motivations for the theft? Just asking questions.
