The original lineup of Jane’s Addiction just release its first new music in 34 years.

The last time Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery got together to write, record, and release new music, it was 1990. The internet still wasn’t a thing. Almost no one could afford a mobile phone, and even if you could, why would you want one, anyway? Vinyl was still outselling CDs. The first Lollapalooza was still a year away.

But the hiatus ended this week with a new Jane’s Addiction song called “Imminent Redemption,” something they whipped together at Sweetzerland Studios in Hollywood. This could have been a track from Nothing’s Shocking or Ritual de lo Habitual. It also rings with a bit of U2’s “Bullet the Blue Sky” (you’ll hear it.)

There’s more in the wings, too. The band has performed a track called “True Live” live last year. How much more awaits? I guess we’ll see.

PS: Good to see that Dave Navarro seems to have beaten Long COVID. It kept him out of action for the better part of two years.
