This is the weekly Canadian sales report for CDs and vinyl

Like I’ve been saying for a couple of weeks, the battle of 2025 is already over. Barring some kind of unforeseen miracle, new vinyl will outsell CDs in Canada for the second year in a row. Here are the latest numbers via Luminate.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 30,264 (down 4.9% from a week ago)
  • Vinyl sales in Canada last week: 35,588 (down 5.4% from a week earlier; Record Store Day sales will be included in next week’s report.)
  • CDs sold in Canada this year: 418,516 (up 2.4% from a year ago.)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada this year: 464,909 (up 21.6% from this point in 2024).

Streaming numbers:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,903,908,071 (up 2.1% from last week.)
  • Songs streamed in Canada so far this year: 39,214,592,981 (Up 6.1% compared to a year ago).
