Cool!

Want to buy Motley Crue’s private jet? It’s cheap–but there’s a catch.

At the height of their decadent powers, Motley Crue was doing well enough to charter their own private jet to whisky them, their groupies, and all their drugs from gig to gig. It’s a 1985 Learjet 35A (registration N21VN) with a capacity of ten passengers, a range of a little more than 5,000 km, and a cruising speed of about 500 mph.

This particular jet, now stripped of the flame decals when The Crue used it, is sitting abandoned and is about to be auctioned. The price? Awfully cheap. It’s currently valued at US$64,500. That is not a typo.

Why so inexpensive? The jet is unflyable without a specific replacement–a noise muffling kit now required under aviation law–a part that costs US$800,000. It’s estimated that it needs another US$100,000 in repairs. The jet has also been sitting on a tarmac since (I think) 2019. It’s been for sale since 2023 (at least) with no takers.
